The VA Medical Center in Northport offers a wide range of medical, surgical, mental health, physical rehabilitation, vocational/employment, substance abuse, pharmacy, aging and women’s services. Most honorably discharged wartime and peacetime veterans are eligible for VA care. Primary care and mental health services are also provided in VA community clinics in Riverhead, Patchogue, Bay Shore, East Meadow, and Valley Stream, NY. Honorably discharged veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and Operation New Dawn (OND) have a five-year window of unrestricted eligibility for VA enrollment immediately following their separation from active duty. After the initial five-year eligibility window closes, OEF/OIF/OND veterans may still register for enrollment, but are subject to the same eligibility rules as other military veterans. All veterans are strongly encouraged to register for VA care.
